About Us

Tribal Mango is a family business located in the heart of Cumbria. What we offer is handmade because we like the idea that individuals matter; although many of us like to wear jewellery and use fashion accessories, we don’t always want to buy mass produced things made by large faceless companies. At Tribal Mango we prefer products that have been made by individuals who benefit by being paid fairly for what they produce.

Business Ethics

At Tribal Mango our main priority is to provide good quality products at a good price together with excellent customer service. However, we are also concerned with sustainability, minimising environmental impact, giving something back in the form of donating part of our profit to charity and encouraging ethical and fair trade.
 

Ethical and Fair Trade

Everything we offer is sourced from developing countries including; India, Indonesia and Peru, from ethical and fair trade suppliers. All of our suppliers operate using ethical standards concerning working conditions and fair pay.  All of our fair trade suppliers operate according to the criteria set by the British Association for Fair Trade Shops (BAFTS) or the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO). We believe this benefits not only the individuals and co-operatives etc. involved but it also benefits the environment as it encourages small-scale sustainable production. Very often the materials used in production are sourced locally. See our Ethical and Fair Trade page for more information.
 

Sustainability

We seek to offer products that are made from sustainable resources and natural or recycled materials. See our Natural Materials page for information on some of the materials used.
 

Environmental Impact

In order to reduce our environmental impact we reuse all the packaging materials that we can such as cardboard boxes. All the new packaging we use is either recyclable and/or resuseable and virtually all of it is also biodegradable including the bubble wrap and clear sticking tape. The only exception to this is brown parcel tape for which we have been unable so far to find a suitable alternative. The gift boxes we use for jewellery are made from recycled card. In addition, all of the electricity we use is from 100% renewable sources.
