Chakras
The word chakra comes from Sanskrit meaning wheel or circle. Chakras are essentially seen as spinning spheres which receive, assimilate and express life force. There are seven chakras in all, six of which are located in a column from the base of the spine to the middle of the forehead, and are positioned at major points of the nervous system. The seventh chakra is believed to be either at the crown of the head or just above the head.
Each chakra is believed to be related to specific functions which are essential to health and well-being, whether physical , mental or spiritual. Chakras which are spinning well indicate a healthy, strong and well-balanced body and those that are sluggish indicate malaise which will affect the life force and therefore the well-being of the body. Each chakra is associated with various semi-precious stones; this can be because of their colour and/or because of the properties the stones are believed to have.
